Efficient navigation skills within Mobius are key to managing your sustainability projects. You can think of the main pages in Mobius like your digital desk with dedicated areas for different projects, tasks, and functions. This article covers the following questions:

  1. What are Workspaces?

  2. What is on the Home page?

  3. What is the Product overview page?

  4. What is the Life cycle overview page?

  5. What is the Object library?

What are Workspaces?

In Mobius, Workspaces are separate environments where you can (optionally) work on different projects. It is a way to organize and manage your work effectively by keeping projects separate. Workspaces are also useful if you have multiple users who are using the same account and want to keep your work separate. You can view what workspace you are in in the top left of the navigation menu. You can also switch workspaces here (Figure 1).

Pro tip - Workspaces: Do you want to work on a different project? Work on a separate project in a different workspace (Figure 2)!

What is on the Home page?

The Home page is where you get directed every time you log in to Mobius. All of your workspaces have a Home page. You can think of this page as the place you go if you ever get lost. Here, you can see and access your most recent products and lifecycles. On the right side of the home page, you can find resources (e.g., help center articles, ‘getting started’ materials, etc.) that can help you in your Mobius journey.

Pro tip - Home page tour: Check out the Home page tour, which you can launch directly inside the Mobius Home page through the ‘Take a tour’ button in the Getting Started panel. The tour will guide you through Mobius while you are in the software.

What is the Product overview page?

The Product overview page holds all of the products you have created. As you add additional products, your library will become more populated. There are different ways to organize your Product overview page as it becomes larger, this is discussed in another article.

What are Product inventories?

Within the Product overview page, if you click on a product, you are brought to the respective product’s inventory page. Product inventories typically contain the ‘cradle-to-gate’ model (i.e., raw material extraction to production), and supporting information, for a product. To learn more about creating your first product, click here.

What is the Life cycle overview page?

Mobius is also used to model life cycles. The Life cycle overview page is similar to the Product overview page except it is where all the full life cycles you have created are located. Life cycle models include ‘cradle-to-grave’ impacts, rather than ‘cradle-to-gate’ impacts like in the Product overview page. ‘Cradle-to-grave’ includes the use and end-of-life phases impact of your product.

What is the Object library?

Objects are the smaller components of a product. Essentially, everything that makes up the model of your product (i.e., your bill of materials) is an object. Every object you have created is located in the Object library. This includes your input materials, but also energy usage, waste streams, processing, and any transport methods.

What are Object inventories?

Just like product pages, Object inventories are accessible by clicking on objects in your Object library. Object inventories contain all the information needed for them to be used to model products.
