Managing your Product inventory in Mobius can be streamlined with the Open Items feature. This tool allows you to navigate directly to specific objects and their inventories, making it easier to scale up or down as needed. What is the Open Items feature?
The Open Items feature allows you to move seamlessly from the inventory of one product or object to another by ‘zooming in’ on a part of your larger inventory. This is particularly useful when you need to update specific components of your product without manually adjusting the quantities.
For example, if you find out additional information about your product, but it’s scaled to a different size than your original product (e.g., original product input = 1.2 m2, new information = 1 m2) the process for implementing this new data is rather tedious. It would require scaling it in Excel first (e.g., from 1m2 to 1.2m2) before it could be fed into Mobius. The Open items functionality avoids this process through ratio modeling, allowing you to scale or alter your products/objects based on their original scale directly in Mobius.
How to use the Open Items feature?
1. Go to a Product inventory: Visit the Product inventory of one of your products.
2. Access the Open Items feature: Find the object, or subitem you want to update in your Product inventory. Click on the three dots next to the object and select Open Item (Figure 1). This action will take you directly to the inventory of the selected object or product you wish to edit.

3. Edit the Object inventory: Add new data or update existing entries directly in the object’s inventory (Figure 2). This ensures that the data is entered correctly based on the default unit.
Note - Default unit: The inventory for any object or product is always presented per the unit of measurement you defined (e.g., per one unit, per square meter).

4. Verify updates: After making your updates, click 'Back to product list' to return to the original Product inventory (Figure 2). Select your original product or object again to verify that the changes you made are now appropriately scaled to the quantities used in your product.
