Transferring data between workspaces in your Mobius account can be helpful for various reasons, like reusing a model in a different project, creating a backup to prevent unintended changes, or starting fresh in a new workspace while retaining key objects. Understanding how to efficiently move your data can streamline your workflow and ensure your Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) models remain accurate and consistent. This article covers the following questions:

Why move data between workspaces?
There are instances where one might want to move data from one workspace in your account to another. Some reasons include:
Reusing a (part of a) model in another context or project
Isolating an LCA model so it isn’t affected by other work (i.e., create a backup)
(Quick)starting in a new, fresh workspace, with only the objects, or products you want to keep
How to move data between workspaces?
Below we explain how to move LCA data from one workspace to another in two ways - moving 1 product, vs. moving multiple products in one go.
How to move one product between workspaces?
Regardless of the reason you want to move your LCA to another workspace, the process of transferring one product to another workspace is simple, and essentially consists of two steps:
Export your model: Export your model structure (CSV) using the green Tools button. Read more about exporting here.
Import to a new workspace: Go to the workspace you’d like to add your exported LCA model to. Click ‘import’, identify the respective .csv file, and add it to the new workspace! Read more about importing here.
How to move multiple products between workspaces?
Are you looking to move multiple product LCAs between workspaces? There are two approaches:
Export-import one product at a time: Repeat the above steps for each product you wish to move. This is feasible for a limited number of products.
Create a fictional meta-product (portfolio): If you want to move many products, it is best to first create a ‘fictional’ meta-product, consisting of all the products you’d like to migrate as its subitems - a portfolio. For example, as shown in Figure 1, instead of moving Products A, B, C, and D separately, create a portfolio product containing the products to transfer. You can then export this model and import it into the new workspace the same as you would for one product. This can save you lots of time!

Caution - Limitations of moving products between workspaces: While it is possible to move product LCAs between workspaces, the current functionality has some limitations.
Custom impact: It is not possible to move objects between workspaces that are modeled using custom impact, instead of a dataset. Objects that are modeled using custom impact will appear as having no impact when moved between workspaces. These items must be remodeled in the new workspace environment.
Life cycles: It is only possible to migrate Products or Objects between workspaces. It is not possible at the moment to move a full Life Cycle between workspaces. If you wish to move a full Life Cycle between workspaces, use the same approach as described above to remodel your life cycle in the product inventory environment.

Next steps
While moving product LCAs between workspaces is straightforward and can save time, it's important to be aware of the limitations. By following the steps outlined, you can effectively manage your data across different workspaces, ensuring that your LCA projects are well-organized and maintain their integrity throughout various phases of development.
